Behavioral Health Services
In partnership with Breathe Easy, LATAN is now offering the following behavioral health services:
Tech Enabled Transition: Embracing Change Together
A focus on both adapting to new technologies and embracing change as a supportive community. Change can mean a new diagnosis/disability or functional limitation, caring for someone with a disability, and experiencing some form of transition.
Heartstrings
A support group for caregivers of young and adult children with special needs. Where the emotional connections shared with your children can be celebrated. A safe space for not only sharing joyful moments and milestones but also a space for sharing the rough days and raw emotions that accompany them.
Reclaiming Life: Navigating Depression After Spinal Injury
A therapeutic group for people with spinal cord injuries who are experiencing depression. The group provides a safe space to talk about the challenges and hope associated with spinal cord injuries. The group leader will work through depression associated with having a spinal cord injury and the many transitions that will be ahead for the participant. Some group activities will include the introduction to, use of assistive devices and the acceptance of assistive devices being a part of the participants’ new reality.
Educational Companion Groups
Campus Calm – 2 weeks
This therapeutic group focuses on navigating college with confidence and easing college anxiety for students with disabilities. The group leader will assist students in working through anxiety related to their transition to college.
EmpowerEd – 2 weeks
Includes an introduction to assistive technology that will benefit students while enrolled, providing education on their rights while enrolled and assisting students and families with identifying the disability offices on their campuses.
Restoring Resilience
This group provides support to caregivers of family members with disabilities. We will work together and strive to improve somatic, depressive and anxiety symptoms. By participating in this group we hope to provide positive social interaction, emotional support, exposure to assistive devices to assist with caregiving, techniques for daily self care and more.
